Nokia Netbook on the Way? Will They Have to Fight Former Symbian Owner Psion for the Name?

TheStreet.com’s Scott Moritz reports that according to his sources, a Nokia netbook is a done deal…

Technology Rumor of the Day: Nokia

This makes a lot of sense given Nokia’s experience with the N800 series of Internet Tablets. The question is whether they will use the Symbian S60 operating system for the netbook or the now more standard Windows XP (or Windows 7). Or, will, they take the Linux base used for the N800 series? Given that the Linux based N800 series never got much traction in the mass market, this doesn’t seem like a good strategy. But, it also seems unlikely that Nokia would base their netbook on Microsoft Windows either. I’m guessing they, like Dell, will use an Ubuntu variant like the Ubuntu MID Edition (MID = Mobile Internet Device).
