In the last two days a video called ‘McFly’s Closet’ has amassed over 1.1 million views.  The video features shelves and shelves of 2011 Nike MAG shoes, which are designed to look just like Marty McFly’s awesome shoes from Back To The Future II.  The shoes are limited edition—there are only 1500 pairs being auctioned off on eBay—and all net proceeds are going directly to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

The Nike MAG shoes were officially unveiled and announced on the Nike website yesterday.  The auction began last night and will end on September 18, with 150 pairs of shoes being posted on eBay per day.

Last night Michael J. Fox appeared on the Late Show with David Letterman to show off the new Nike kicks.  He told Letterman, “It’s kind of cool because it brings together three populations of people with major joneses—the sneakerheads, who love sneakers; the Back To The Future guys who, believe me, are all out of their minds (in a good way); and also the people in the Parkinson’s community that have an interest in research.”

What’s really cool is that Sergey Brin and Anne Wojcicki have given a 50 million dollar grant to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.  According to the Nike blog, “They will match all donations to the foundation, up to 50 million dollars, through the end of 2012.”

Michael J. Fox also put together a short video on the Nike Back 4 The Future YouTube channel talking about the shoes and the charity campaign.  Check it out below.

Nike isn’t the only brand that has turned to Doc Brown, Marty McFly and Back To The Future in an advertising campaign recently.  Over the last couple of weeks, Argentine appliance store Garbarino also launched a Back To The Future-inspired campaign, starring Christopher Lloyd AKA Doctor Emmett Brown.

Let us know what you think about the Nike MAG, the campaign to fight Parkinson’s and the sudden comeback of Back To The Futre.  Would you like a pair of Marty McFly shoes?
