Nielsen Social Content Ratings, Week of July 31: Game of Thrones Nips Preseason Football

The NFL preseason clash between the Arizona Cardinals and Dallas Cowboys topped the sports chart

Game of Thrones reclaimed the top spot in the Nielsen Social Content Ratings for the week of July 31, barely edging a game that didn’t even count.

The HBO drama totaled 2.408 million interactions across Facebook and Twitter for the week, thoroughly overshadowing Syfy’s Sharknado 5: Global Swarming (424,000) and CBS’ Big Brother (366,000) on the list of television series and specials.

Meanwhile, on the sports side, NBC’s airing of the National Football League preseason clash between the Arizona Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys fell just short of Game of Thrones, with 2.269 million total interactions across Facebook and Twitter.

The return of football was followed by two Major League Baseball match-ups: Cleveland Indians at Boston Red Sox on MLB Network (316,000 total interactions); and Washington Nationals at Chicago Cubs on TBS (300,000).
