Nielsen Social Content Ratings, Week of June 5: NBA Finals, Stanley Cup Finals Earn Trophies

CBS’ presentation of the 71st Annual Tony Awards was the week's top TV series or special

The National Basketball Association Finals and the National Hockey League’s Stanley Cup Finals were championship-caliber in the Nielsen Social Content Ratings for the week of June 5.

Basketball and hockey postseason action accounted for the top five sports programs (and overall television offerings) in terms of interactions across Facebook and Twitter, with games three and four, respectively, of the NBA Finals, grabbing the top two spots (the visiting Golden State Warriors won game three, while the host Cleveland Cavaliers took game four).

Third through fifth place went to games six (a 2-0, series-clinching victory by the Pittsburgh Penguins), five (a 6-0 Penguins blowout) and four (a 4-1 win for the Nashville Predators), respectively, of the Stanley Cup Finals.

As for TV series and specials, CBS’ presentation of the 71st Annual Tony Awards led with 1.713 million interactions across Facebook and Twitter, well ahead of NBC’s America’s Got Talent (882,000) and the 2017 CMT Music Awards (758,000).
