NFL Player Tarell Brown Loses $2 Million, Fires Agent — All Because Of A Tweet

San Francisco 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown got some bad news recently, but not from his coach or agent – from Twitter.

The NFL player learned via a tweet from Brian McIntyre, a Yahoo! Sports NFL writer, that he was out $2 million.

Brown is entering the final year of his contract with the 49ers, and was supposed to earn $2.95 million this year (yes, you’re in the wrong career). That salary included $925,000 in base pay and a stipulation that he would only receive the rest if he participated in the team’s off-season workouts at their Northern California headquarters.

As Brown’s agent Brian Overstreet (now fired) allegedly never told him about that sizable specification, the NFLer was working out in Texas rather than in California – and is now out $2 million. He got the unfortunate news via this tweet from writer McIntyre:

Basically Brown forfeited two-thirds of his salary inadvertently. And the only reason he found out was because of Twitter. That has to hurt.
