Newsweek-Daily Beast Announces New Hires, Promotions

Kyle Pope editor-at-large

Tina Brown’s Newsweek-Daily Beast Company got hit hard last week. First, editor-at-large Randall Lane left to become editor of Forbes, and then international general manager Alan Bone bounced to Bloomberg Businessweek.

This week brings better news. Contributing editor Kyle Pope, formerly of The New York Observer, will be bumped up to editor-at-large, overseeing special sections in upcoming Newsweek issues. Justine Rosenthal, current editor of the D.C.-based National Interest, will join as senior editor. Malcolm Jones, a writer for Newsweek since 1989, will become an editor for The Daily Beast.
