Newsweek.com Appoints New COO

Alix Baudin has been named chief operating officer of Newsweek.com, a new position just created by the weekly news magazine. Baudin joins the site from BET Networks, where he managed business development, the vertical ad network and operations on the network's digital side. He has also worked as chief operating officer at Carol's Daughter Holdings and senior director of finance and strategy at Mobile ESPN, ESPN Wireless and Sports Ticker. And Baudin also has previous experience as an investment banker, working at JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs. Newsweek's Web site has gone through a few changes in the past few months, bringing on two new editors and promoting a handful more in August, and introducing a new look back in May. "I am delighted that Alix will be joining Newsweek. He brings a remarkable set of skills that cut across business development, product, technology and finance. I look forward to applying his considerable talents to Newsweek's digital offering," said Geoff Reiss, General Manager of Newsweek's digital group. Alix comes to Newsweek from BET Networks, a division of Viacom, where he led the business development, vertical ad network and operations side in their digital business. Before that he was Chief Operating Officer of Carol's Daughter Holdings LLC and Senior Director of Finance and Strategy for Mobile ESPN, ESPN Wireless and Sports Ticker Divisions. Before that, he was an investment banker at JPMorgan in the Telecommunications, Media and Technology Division. Alix began his career at Goldman Sachs & Co. in the Fixed Income Currency and Commodities Division and in the Quantitative Strategies Group of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. Alix graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science from the City College of New York, an M.S.E. in Computer and Information Science from the Moore School of Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.
