Newly Named Knicks Announcer Spero Dedes Reportedly Charged with DWI
Spero Dedes, who just nailed down the coveted New York Knicks play-by-play gig, was arrested and charged with DWI in Southampton.
Southampton Patch reports Dedes, 32, was stopped for speeding early Sunday morning. Police say Dedes, driving a 2006 BMW, was intoxicated and charged with the DWI.
Dedes’ attorney, Colin Astarita tells the Southampton Patch that he anticipates a “complete dismissal of the charges due to problems surrounding Mr. Dedes’ traffic stop and ultimate arrest.”
Last month, various reports said Dedes, a former Los Angeles Lakers radio announcer, replaced Mike Crispino as main radio voice and back-up TV play-by-play man.
