New York Observer's Lorentzen Leaving for London

'Anti-hipster' will join London Review of Books

New York Observer Culture Editor Christian Lorentzen will join the London Review of Books, Adweek has learned.

An employee who answered the phone at the Review's London office unwittingly confirmed the news on Monday. "He's not here yet," she said when Adweek called and asked to speak with Lorentzen. "I believe he'll be arriving in early May."

Lorentzen, who joined the Observer in May 2010, had earned a reputation as the "anti-hipster" for a piece he wrote in 2007 called "The Hipster Must Die: A Modest Proposal to Save New York Cool."

From 2006 to 2009, Lorentzen worked at Harper's Magazine, where he was a senior editor.
