New iPhone in April and Other Apple Gossip

What would a day be without some juicy Apple rumors. First, there’s the next iteration of the iPhone, which, so they say, will have an expandable GelForm SuperTouch screen, Bluetooth eye-interface, and build-in satellite TV. No, just kidding–none of that stuff exists.

But there are indeed rumors of the 4th version of the iPhone coming earlier than expected, in April. The Unofficial Apple Weblog reported yesterday evening that Apple’s overseas suppliers have hinted that a new iPhone is on the way. Possible new functions include video-chat, a more powerful processor, a removable battery, and a better screen and camera, plus possibly a flash for the camera, though TUAW isn’t holding its breath for any of this.

Then, on the tablet front, there are a few tidbits from Boy Genius Report, which says Apple tipsters who “haven’t steered us wrong” have the following to report on the tablet:

“- The tablet’s multi-touch gestures are “out of control.”
– It’s powered by an incredibly fast ARM CPU
– It runs on the iPhone kernel.
– The internal model number is K48AP.
– There hasn’t been an updated iPhone OS build because there’s too much tablet-related code/references in the OS and Apple obviously didn’t want that to leak. Oops.
– The tablet is basically an ‘iPhone on steroids.'”

No doubt there will be more to tantalize us tomorrow.
