New Foursquare Push APIs Bring the Promise of Cool New 3rd Party Location Apps

Foursquare released real-time APIs (User push API and Venue push API) to give developers real-time access to a subset of Foursquare check-ins. This means that other apps can make use of Foursquare’s large user and venue information store (assuming the user opts-in).

New prizes and new API endpoints for this weekend’s global hackathon

Foursquare’s global hackathon takes place this weekend and may result in some interesting uses of these new push APIs. Foursquare has arranged for hackathon winners:

– The best website using the new Venue Push API will be featured on the giant NASDAQ screen in Times Square in NYC – and, NASDAQ will fly you out to see it in action!
– The team with the best hack using the Twilio API will also be flown out to NYC to receive some face-to-face advice and guidance from the incredible team at Union Square Ventures
