New CareerBuilder Survey Reveals Candidates Miffed With Employment Process

Despite high unemployment rates, according to a new CareerBuilder survey, more than half (56 percent) of employers who recruited new employees in the last year reported that a candidate rejected their job offer. That’s right — rejected it.

Turns out, a candidate’s experience with the employer from start to finish during the recruitment process impacts their decision about whether or not to accept an offer.

Get this — about 15 percent of job seekers (800,000 candidates who applied to jobs from June 1, 2011 until April 30, 2012 were included in the survey) reported having a worse opinion of the employer after they were contacted by the company to start the interviewing process!

And what happens when job seekers submit their resume into a black hole, otherwise known as an applicant tracking system (ATS)? According to the CareerBuilder Applicant Experience study, 44 percent of job seekers who never heard back...
