Nancy Gibbs has been promoted to Deputy Managing Editor of  TIME magazine.  In an internal memo announcing the news, John Huey and Rick Stengel gushed, proclaiming Gibbs “the very embodiment of the TIME brand.”

“Her work has long set the journalistic standard for its writing, its ethics, and its ability to connect with TIME readers around the world. This new role will take advantage of all her many skills,” read the memo.

Besides holding the record for most covers written, Gibbs has chronicled a huge array of issues and news stories – from presidential elections and Columbine to Katrina and 9/11.
