MySpace May Name New Ad-Sales Head
The MySpace advertising-sales staff will gather at seaside resort Terranea in Palos Verdes, Calif., about 20 miles south of Los Angeles, next week, but it won’t be for cocktails or its nine-hole golf course.
Kara Swisher of AllThingsD reports that the social-networking site will discuss its new strategy, which will include a total redesign and a sharpened focus on music and entertainment.
Several bands that have successfully used MySpace to promote themselves will perform at the event, and Ben Sherwood, author of The Survivors Club: The Secrets and Science That Could Save Your Life and founder of a Website with the same title, will speak.
Sources also told AllThingsD that MySpace will name its new ad-sales head, with speculation focusing on executives from Viacom and Microsoft.
