Myslopes Spreads The Word When You Hit The Slopes

If you're planning a trip to your favorite slopes, a new Facebook application from Myslopes gives you the ability to share your plans through your Facebook profile. The Myslopes widget also posts conditions, reviews and more for your destination, as well as which of your Facebook friends will be tagging along on the trip. The application covers slope conditions and snowfall, as well as reviews from recent visitors to those resorts. You can also search the top resorts based on a number of filter criteria, including snow height and which resorts are best suited for beginners, experts and families. Once you've entered your travel plans, you can place a widget in your profile letting your Facebook friends know where and when your going, with a daily countdown leading up to your trip. Your travel dates also allow you to find other Facebook users that will be at the resort at the same time, so you can reach out to them and plan a possible meetup or get their opinions on the resort. You can rank several criteria for the mountain you visited and enter your review for others to read, all of which will also be posted on the Myslopes site. Myslopes has implemented similar applications for a number of other social networks, and the service currently has a mostly international focus. The new Facebook application covers more than 1,000 slopes worldwide, but coverage of U.S. resorts is sporadic, at best. We were unable to find any of our East Coast favorites on the list, and several California resorts were also missing. There are about 80 U.S. resorts covered on the Myslopes site, which you link to through the Facebook app, but not all of them are accessible in the Facebook widget. There are already a few similar applications for skiers and snowboarders on Facebook, most notably Snowago. Snowago has a comprehensive log of resorts in North America and abroad, and the large number of existing users makes it a great resource for anyone looking for reviews and rankings. If you don't see your favorite mountain on Snowago, you can create a new Snow Log for the resort and offer your own reviews.
