The Muppets Get Their Own Cooking Web Series

The Muppets have been making a comeback over the last year through the wonderful world of web video, with big YouTube hits like their version of Bohemian Rhapsody, which has garnered over 15 million views and took home two Webby Awards. Now the Muppets are taking their web video presence to the next level with not one, but two web series. The Muppets are now starring in two cooking shows online - one on Disney.com and one on Disney's Family.com. So grab your apron and your spatula, and get ready to make a mess in the kitchen with The Muppets! The Disney.com show, 'The Muppets Kitchen with Cat Cora', brings Food Network veteran Cora together with some of your favorite Muppets, including Miss Piggy, Kermit and Fozzie, as well as a new Muppet chef named Angelo (maybe the Swedish Chef was too difficult to understand?). The Family.com show, 'Hasty Tasty Cooking Tips with Cat Cora & The Muppets' is aimed more towards moms and dads, focusing on practical quick family recipes and step-by-step cooking instructions. The shows have many similarities, but are targeted towards slightly different audiences. Paul Yanover, Disney Online's Managing Director, elaborated on the two series on Mediaweek. He said, "These shows are sort of two cuts of the same thing. They are rooted in the same characters and same content. But we wanted to make sure we packaged Hasty Tasty in a manner that is focused on practical tips, with Cat driving those episodes." Muppets Kitchen is more focused on the fun side of things and, while it shares basic recipes, it doesn't go into great detail about the step-by-step cooking process.
