Mr. Magazine: House and Garden was All Fantasy and Not Enough Service
The shutting down of Conde Nast’s House & Garden after 106 years came as a surprise to everyone. ”Mr.Magazine” blogger Samir Husni, has an idea why it failed, as he tells The Los Angeles Times:
”’It was the grande dame, all fantasy and not enough service,’ says Samir Husni, chairman of the journalism department at the University of Mississippi. ‘It lost touch with its readers.”’
Later in the interview Husni speculates further that the weeklong Design Happening 2007 — which occurred last month — ”must’ve been a huge flop.”
