Variety reports, "Comedy Central's 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart' has added Upright Citizens Brigade-bred comic Wyatt Cenac to its stable of news correspondents." MediaWeek reports, "Continuing the shift of resources from print to digital, Time magazine is moving to bolster its online video offerings with the appointment of a director of multimedia for Time.com, a newly created position. Craig Duff, an Emmy award-winning video journalist who has worked for CNN, Turner Broadcasting and The New York Times, will oversee the creation of multimedia content and train journalists in addition to doing his own video work, Time.com editor Josh Tyrangiel said in a staff memo announcing the appointment." An AP release announced, "The Associated Press will begin rolling out details of its new pricing to members this week, a plan that will return up to $21 million to its U.S. member newspapers. The reductions are part of the most important overhaul in pricing and structure of AP content in the history of the cooperative, and will greatly expand the content that newspapers receive, as well as simplify the process by which they are assessed. This historic shift changes the traditional arrangement, from AP providing pre-defined 'wires' to customers, to allowing them open access to AP content and the ability to create highly customized slices of news coverage." However, 35 percent disagree, while 16 percent have no opinion." After declining political advertising since its inception in 1981, MTV is reversing course. PBS News Hour looks at how "A rise in the number of non-profit organizations funding journalism projects is changing how newsrooms gather independent content." Huffington Post presents, "Obama, Osama, And Other Media Tongue-Twisters" Top of post ONLINE MEDIA Bloomberg reports, "Internet advertising spending will surpass radio this year, with about 9.5 percent of ad budgets worldwide allocated to online media, said Steve King, head of Publicis Groupe SA's ZenithOptimedia unit." BtoB reports, "Sixty-seven percent of C-level executives cite the Internet as their primary source of business information. That number has increased 37% since 2004, according to Forbes.com, which announced the results of an online study of 639 respondents conducted in January with research company Gartner Inc" Huffington Post reports, "Only weeks into the general election campaign and already a notable tension is beginning to materialize within the Democratic Party. Washington Post reports, "Charter Communications, the fourth-largest cable operator in the United States, announced yesterday that it has backed off a plan to monitor customers' Internet transmissions." The San Jose Mercury News reports, "A long-running legal battle over whether Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg ripped off Harvard classmates in launching his social-networking Web site shifted to a San Jose federal courtroom Monday as high-powered legal teams squared off in a fight that could have huge consequences for the company's future." BusinessWeek reports, "As content recognition software gets more sophisticated, expect more copyright-related battles online like the recent AP-blogger flap" CNet News reports, "For all you Twitter addicts, here's meat for another tweet: The company has closed another round of financing, this time led by Spark Capital, along with Jeff Bezos' investment entity, Bezos Expeditions."
