More American Adults Own Smartphones Than Normal Cell Phones: Pew

According to a new report from Pew Research, more than 46 percent of adults in America own a smartphone owners as of February 2012, which is up 11 percent from the last time they did the survey in May 2011, when only 35 percent of Americans owned a smartphone.

The report also found that 41% of American adults own a cell phone that is not a smartphone, which is pretty significant since this means that smartphones are the predominant type of cellphone in this country.
