Monsoon Placeshifts to Smartphones

There will soon be a new way to watch your home TV wherever you are. Monsoon Multimedia is adding support for Windows Mobile and Symbian phones and PDAs to the placeshifting functionality on its set-top boxes, TWICE reports. The boxes currently allow users to “shift” TV streams to broadband-connected PCs, computers on the same home network as the TV set and to the Nokia N810 Wi-Fi device.

The Windows Mobile application is due out this month, with the Symbian version scheduled for sometime in Q2. The software downloads are free, but the Monsoon set-tops range from $129-$249.
