Smartphone usage has exploded around the world over the last few years and it’s easy to forget that a decade or so ago what we could do on our mobile devices was actually incredibly limited. Fast forward to the heady days of 2014, and thanks to a wealth of apps and huge advances in technology, the humble “mobile phone” has transformed itself into a pocket-sized computer, with almost limitless potential.

So what are we doing with our devices, day in and day out? Four in 10 use their smartphones for social networking, the top activity, ahead of video, app downloads and games, and 70 percent of users check their mobile phones during meals at least once per day.

Heck, 48 percent believe that it is acceptable to use your mobile device whilst on the toilet.
