Internet advertising revenue was up 14 percent year-over-year in the first half of 2012, according to a new report by PriceWaterhouseCoopers and the Interactive Advertising Bureau.
Online advertising accounted for $17 billion in spending in the first half of the year, the report says. Mobile advertising nearly doubled to $661 million in the second quarter.
The market continues to grow more concentrated: 73 percent of revenue went to the 10 leading ad-selling companies in the second quarter, up a percentage point from the same period last year.
Video advertising claimed increased market share. But so-called “rich media” advertising shrunk, although at least one marketing study spotlighted it as the most promising format for mobile advertisers.
