The event is part of the league’s ongoing MLS Unites initiative.
Guetta’s 90-minute set will take place at an iconic location in New York, and it will feature surprise guests, as well as appearances by first responders.
The performance will begin after the city’s “daily clap” at 7 p.m., acknowledging front-line and healthcare workers.
And select fans of partner MLS clubs who are 21 and older will receive exclusive access to a videoconference room, where they will be able to view the performance and potentially be featured on the global livestream.
Fans can donate by visiting DavidGuetta.com/donate, and funds will go to: hunger-relief organization Feeding America; Fondation Hôpitaux de Paris—Hôpitaux de France, which aims to improve conditions for healthcare workers and hospital patients in France; the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, the city’s official fundraising arm for Covid-19 relief, supporting domestic violence survivors, frontline health care workers and essential staff, immigrant communities and others; and the World Health Organization’s Covid-19 Solidarity Response Fund.
Guetta teamed up with MLS club Inter Miami CF on the inaugural United at Home event last month, playing a 90-minute set in downtown Miami that was viewed more than 25 million times and raised over $750,000, including $300,000 from the artist himself.
MLS senior vice president of brand and integrated marketing David Bruce said in an email, “MLS is proud to join forces with a dedicated partner like Heineken and global icon David Guetta to bring people together through music and soccer. United at Home captures the spirit of MLS Unites—a special 90 minutes of action, a connected soccer community that celebrates individuality, while creating positive impact for fantastic charities. We are honored to be part of an event that highlights the great work of our frontline heroes and connects our league and clubs to a global audience.”
Heineken vp of brand marketing Borja Manso Salinas added in an email, “Heineken has always encouraged social experiences and now, more than ever, we’re dedicated to keeping socializing alive, but in a responsible way. We are honored to co-present David Guetta’s United at Home alongside our partners at MLS, as we believe together, we can bring fans together digitally through the power of music and soccer to encourage them to socialize responsibly.”
And Guetta said in a statement, “It’s an honor to work with MLS and Heineken for the second edition of United at Home this Saturday. As a DJ, the crowd is what makes a show spectacular and, despite the world remaining indoors during this time, we will be united again this weekend. I will play from an iconic location in New York, and the show can be enjoyed from homes around the world. I hope to see you on Saturday, and together, we can make a real difference in raising money to help communities in need.”
