Minnesota's Sun Newspapers Acquisition Completed
MinnPost’s David Brauer reports that ECM Publishers has officially completed its acquisition of Sun Newspapers, a community newspaper publisher serving 700,000 readers in more than 10 suburban Minnesotan towns.
The acquirer, ECM Publishers, owns 15 papers in Minnesota.
While some of the papers’ distributions overlap slightly, today’s acquisition announcement didn’t mention consolidating any papers, Brauer writes. He does say, though, that ECM will probably consolidate back-office costs and printing. “ECM executives have spoken of injecting newsroom resources into the cut-weary titles,” he adds.
