Microsoft Building Up MGS Mobile Gaming Group
Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 has a serious problem. Despite the presence of perhaps hundreds and perhaps thousands of Windows CE programmers with experience going all the way back to the mid-90s, Windows Phone 7 has essentially no experienced programmers to develop for what is a new mobile platform with a new customer focus (consumer instead of business) and a new distribution model (apps can only be distributed through Microsoft’s app store). If forced to develop for a new platform, why not choose to write for the iPhone or Android which has a known large and growing customer base?
Based on this report from the Downloadsquad, Microsoft is taking the only reasonable approach and is trying to build great Windows Phone 7 games themselves.
