Michelle Myers Tapped as Lucky Publisher

Condé Nast has reached outside its ranks again for two high-profile appointments at Lucky and GQ magazines.

Michelle Myers was plucked from Time Inc.’s People StyleWatch to be vp, publisher of shopping magazine Lucky. Over at GQ, Ana Marie Cox, the founder of Wonkette.com and most recently national correspondent at Air America Radio, was hired as its Washington correspondent.

Under Myers, StyleWatch’s breezy celebrity and shopping content has helped make it a rare growth spot in publishing. Last year, StyleWatch’s ad pages jumped 23.5 percent to 624 while Lucky’s pages fell 26.8 percent, to 1,241, per the Mediaweek Monitor.

Earlier in her career, Myers was publisher of American Media Inc.’s Star and associate publisher of Condé Nast’s Allure.

Myers is the second publisher hire at Condé Nast from the outside in recent months. In November, Susan Plagemann was poached from Hearst’s Marie Claire to be vp, publisher of Vogue.

She succeeds Gina Sanders, who was tapped to be president and CEO of the Fairchild Fashion Group, Condé Nast’s B2B fashion unit.
