Metro Unemployment Report Shows A Teeny Bit Of Good News

Unemployment in major metropolitan areas were higher in April 2009 than April 2008, but fewer areas are reporting unemployment of 10 percent or higher, according to information released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) yesterday.

93 metro areas reported 10.0 percent unemployment or more, down from 100 areas in March. Overall, 149 metropolitan areas’ unemployment rates were higher than the U.S. average.
