Group video-calling feature Messenger Rooms is getting some enhancements.

Messenger From Facebook said in a blog post Wednesday that Rooms can now be created, shared, managed and dropped, all within its app.

Rooms that users have been invited to join will be displayed atop their chats tab, where people can also create Rooms from scratch.

Those Rooms can be created with default, suggested or custom activities. Future start dates can be set, and the audience selection can be customized.

People can also view or join Rooms, or edit those they have created, directly via the app, as well as invite more people to scheduled Rooms and delete Rooms that they no longer wish to remain active.

Notifications can be sent to friends via Messenger to make sure they know about your Rooms.

And users can now customize their backgrounds for Messenger Rooms video calls with their own photos and videos.

Messenger From Facebook said the new creation and discoverability experience is rolling out Wednesday via mobile and will be added to desktop in the coming months, while custom backgrounds will be added to mobile in the coming weeks.
