Meet the Press Wins Again

    According to Nielsen Media Research data, “Meet the Press” was the No. 1 Sunday morning public affairs program both nationally and in Washington, D.C. for the week ending Sunday, February 4, 2007. On Sunday, the NBC program averaged 4.309 million total viewers across the country, 31% more (+1,014,000) than ABC “This Week’s” 3.295 million, a 34% advantage (+1,098,000) over CBS “Face the Nation’s” 3.211 million, and a 178% lead (+2,757,000) over FOX “News Sunday’s” 1.552 million. “Meet the Press'” audience also grew by 1% compared to the same week a year ago.

    “Meet the Press” delivered an additional 367,000 viewers on the Sunday rebroadcasts on MSNBC.

    In Washington, D.C., “Meet the Press” was also top-rated vs. the other network Sunday programs, attracting 123,000 viewers – and posting a 2.1 rating and a 10 share. FOX placed second with 56,000 viewers (1.0/5), CBS was third with 47,000 (0.8/4) and ABC was last with 46,000 (0.8/4).

    In homes nationally, the NBC program placed first with an impressive 3.2 rating and an 8 share. CBS was second with a 2.4/6, ABC was third with a 2.3/6 and FOX was last with a 1.2/3.

    Among the demographic women, men and adults 25-54, the Russert-moderated program placed first in each category. Specifically among adults 25-54, “Meet the Press” posted a 1.2 rating, 9% more than CBS’ 1.1 rating, a 33% lead over ABC’s 0.9 and 140% more than FOX’s 0.5 rating. Compared to a year ago, “Meet the Press” grew its adults 25-54 audience by 9%.

    On, video from “Meet the Press” was popular with viewers. For the week ending February 3, nearly 400,000 videos were played and downloaded, including video podcasts, the “Meet the Press Netcast” and on-demand segments from the broadcast.
