Media to Flaunt Entertainment Chops

Washington media talent competitions are merging this year, with two back-to-back-evenings of a good, goddamn embarrassing fun. The events will benefit  the local youth literacy and writing programs operated by Writopia and REACH, Inc.

Commedia dell Media will take the stage at The Hamilton on Thursday, February 28, and Journopalooza V will rock The Black Cat on Friday, March 1.

See who will entertain you…

Brandon Wetherbee, assistant editor of The Huffington Post and host of the comedic talk radio show “You, Me, Them, Everybody,” will emcee Commedia del Media. Those performing include: Jon Allen and Patrick Reis of Politico, C-SPAN’s Libby Casey, Rich Edson of Fox Business News, Elahe Izadi of the National Journal, NPR’s Renita Jablonski, CBS Radio’s Chris Lingebach, Natalie McGill of The Nation’s Health, Valerie Paschall of DCist, WaPo’s Alexandra Petri, Meredith Shiner of CQ Roll Call, Kat Timpf of TWT 24/7, and CCTV’s Mike Walter.

WJLA anchor and Emmy-award-winning reporter Scott Thuman will host Journpalooza, as the battle for “DC’s Best Media Band” heats up. The moonlighting musicians include journalists from the following: WaPo, ReutersSlate, WSJ, Bloomberg BNA, NPR and McClatchy. The band names are Butter; Cheaper Than Therapy; Dirty Bomb; Nobody’s Business; Suspicious Package and The Stepping Stones.

Noteworthy: Bloomberg BNA has provided generous sponsorship to assist Journopalooza. Tickets: $20 in advance $30 on day of show. Visit here and here.
