Meanwhile, In Canada: Canwest Newspapers CEO Steps Down

As the Asper family waits to see whether their bid to control Canadian newspaper chain Canwest LP is accepted by the group’s creditors, Canwest Global Communications Corp’s newspaper and publishing division president and CEO Dennis Skulsky has announced his resignation.

Skulsky said he made the “personal decision” to leave the company in order to spend more time with his family in British Columbia.

While Skulsky has yet to formally announce any future job prospects, B.C. Lions football team owner David Braley has expressed an interest in recruiting him, so to speak, to act as team president:

I can only hope we’re on the short list of what he wants to do. We’d be very lucky to have him. At least it sounds like we’ll have an opportunity to talk with him. He has another job, but it sounds as if that might be changing by the end of April.
