McDonald’s Continues Rebranding Efforts with French Fry Ingredients Clip

Video NOT guaranteed to silence critics

You may have seen McDonald’s polarizing “signs” ad, which is part of its larger “we’re all above the LOVE” rebranding effort. The “how we make our fries” video below, starring¬†Grant Imahara of Mythbusters, also got a lot of media coverage and nearly three million views on YouTube this week.

The clip that’s getting less attention, however, is this one. It’s not as fun as the one above, because it focuses on Imahara’s efforts to explain the 19¬†ingredients that go into the final product:

While we appreciate the company adapting the strategies that succeeded in Canada (remember the hamburger photo-op video?), something tells us that people critical of the ingredients in their fries will not find the second clip entertaining or appetizing.

And it’s not the grease or the “anti-foaming agent” that led McD’s to score the #4 spot on 24/7 Wall Street’s “America’s most hated companies” list — it’s the labor practices.

What do we think?
