Maureen Dowd: She’s Still Here

dowdgh1.jpgTry as we might, and we’ve definitely put some effort into it, there’s just no getting away from Maureen Dowd. Despite the fact the woman rarely has anything positive to say about anything (she was doing Gawker before there was Gawker) much less anything Clinton, we can’t resist! Here’s our favorite line from today’s column — today being the morning after the historic nomination of a black man to a Presidential ticket (in case you missed it). Also, the anniversary of women acquiring the right to vote…an idea many places are still struggling with. Anyway, back to Modo.

He thought a little thing like winning would stop her? Oh, Bambi. Whoever said that after denial comes acceptance hadn’t met the Clintons…Clintonologists know that Hillary is up to something, but they aren’t sure what. Theory No. 1 is that it’s the Cassandra “I told you so” gambit: She believes intensely that he’s too black, too weak and too elitist — with all his salmon and organic tea and steamed broccoli — to beat her pal John McCain.
Really, what’s not love here? One can only hope someone has the foresight to put Modo’s words of wisdom in some sort of time capsule so future generations will not to wonder too much over the historically confusing state of our union. Of course, this is all really our way of saying that should you too want to illuminate the masses like MoDo you might want to consider taking MB’s op-ed writing class. Or maybe you’ve recently re-thought the whole personal essay route. Either way we aim to please.
