Want to own the domain name of Mark Zuckerberg’s original Harvard project which compared female Havard students to each other and let users vote on which one was more attractive? A domain squatter has picked up the domain name after Zuckerberg apparently let it expire.

Thanks to all the coverage, the owner of the domain has also more than quadrupled the “Buy Now” price despite getting no bid so far. While I’m not sure the domain alone is worth all that much, it’s most definitely an interesting component of internet history. Facemash effectively brought down Harvard’s network due to a surge in traffic, amounting to 22,000 votes by 450 people in one day. The traffic was effectively sensationalized during the recently released movie, The Social Network.

While there’s nothing of significance being hosted under the domain anymore, the name FaceMash.com is definitely a relatively compelling one given that it’s only 2-syllables. However mashing up faces sounds either violent or some sort of entertainment site. While we’re not
