In this role, Preston will continue to cover campaigns, polling, and political events, as well as lead network coverage of political events including the debates.

“Mark’s new role will put CNN in a terrific position heading into the mid-term elections and beyond,” said Feist in a network release. “Mark’s relationships in the political world are among the strongest in journalism and we look forward to Mark leveraging these connections as he organizes events and reports on the upcoming campaign.”

Preston joined CNN as political editor in 2005 and prior to that, was a senior staff writer at Roll Call.
