Marcel Wanders Takes on Spa Design
Marcel Wanders wants to help you relax. As part of his design duties for Morgans Hotel Group’s Mondrian South Beach Hotel Residences in Miami, Wanders oversaw the creation of not only 335 studios, one- and two-bedrooms, and penthouses but also the property’s $3.5 million Agua spa, set to open just in time for Art Basel this December.
In a brief piece in next month’s issue of W magazine, Wanders summarized his approach to spa design in a quote that deserves to be embroidered on towels (but not those typical waffle-weave spa towels): “To me, relaxing doesn’t mean that we play ding-dong songs and look at a wall of bamboo,” he said.
