Magazines Suffer a Brutal First Half

The first half of the year is in the books, and unfortunately, the ABC’s report this morning showed most magazines suffered. Newsstand sales for almost all of the top 25 consumers magazines dropped during the first chunk of 2012; some even suffered double digit losses compared to the same period a year ago.

Cosmo led the pack this first half by selling 1,351,738 copies, but that represented a 15 percent drop from last year. Other big titles that felt a double digit decline in newsstand sales included Vogue (down 16 percent), Vanity Fair (19 percent), O, The Oprah Magazine (18percent) and People (19 percent).
