Playfish/EA Sports Kickoff Madden NFL Superstars On Facebook

Playfish/EA Sports has been working quietly on bringing the highly acclaimed Madden franchise to Facebook. Sports games are expected to gain in popularity as we saw an influx of soccer-themed games launch during the world cup. Entitled "Madden NFL Superstars", the game allows players to create their ultimate fantasy squad by collecting or trading NFL players and competing in matchups against their Facebook friends. Madden NFL 11, which was launched recently, is the number one selling game in August and with the start of the NFL season, Madden NFL Superstars community should see much success. Madden NFL Superstars is a dynamic team management game that lets players create their own ultimate team from 1,500 current players from 32 NFL 2010 team rosters. The fun lies in collecting players to build a custom team and compete head-to-head against millions of other users. There are plenty of game modes to pick from including Season, NFL Pro League and Scrimmage. Players are put test in battles that become increasingly challenging through a progressive ladder that rewards the champions with trophies. There is a feature called 'Game Changer', that lets a losing team gain momentum in scoring potential against overpowering opponents; a mechanic also found in Mario Kart where losing players get cooler items to help them catch up with the leaders of the race. There is plenty to customize for players who can personalize stadiums with team names and logos. This launch follows their recent launch of FIFA Superstars that's risen to the top spot among soccer games on Facebook boasting over 4 million MAUs. Will fans expect too much for this title?
