'Los Angeles Times' Announces New Executive Editor

Russ Stanton to be replaced by Davan Maharaj

The Los Angeles Times today announced that Russ Stanton, its executive vp and editor, will be stepping down from his position on Dec. 23. His replacement will be Davan Maharaj, the Times’ current managing editor for news.

Stanton first joined the Times as a business reporter in 1997. Since taking the newspaper’s top editorial spot four years ago, the Times has won three Pulitzer Prizes and expanded its digital audience, which now totals more than 17 million unique readers every month, according to a statement from the Times.
