Lorin Stein Leaving FSG to Edit Paris Review

parisreview03052010.pngThe Paris Review has named Lorin Stein its new editor, the company announced today.

Stein tells us he will be leaving his job at Farrar, Straus, and Giroux, where he worked since 1998. At FSG, Stein edited big names like Jeffrey Eugenides, Jonathan Franzen, Denis Johnson, Richard Price and James Wood.

Preceding Stein at the Paris Review was New Yorker staff writer Philip Gourevitch, who will go back to writing full-time, the Paris Review said.

The Paris Review is an institution like nothing else in American letters,” Mr. Stein said in a statement. “It stands for the newest, the best, the most daring in writing and art, and that’s been the case now for more than fifty years. To be entrusted with that tradition is a true honor.”
