Longtime Press-Telegram Editor Larry Allison Dies at 77

Long Beach Press-Telegram editorial page editor Larry Allison has died from pneumonia at the age of 77. Allison joined the paper in 1957, holding the titles of reporter, copy editor, city editor, managing editor and executive editor over the course of his nearly 55-year career there.

Over at the Long Beach Post, publisher Shaun Lumachi called Allison “the dean of Long Beach media.” Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster also released this statement.

“Larry always went to great lengths to fairly present issues and always had a keen focus on what mattered to the readers of the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
