Longest-Ever Anchor Retires

Lloyd Robertson ended a 41-year-run as a news anchor at Canada’s CTV yesterday. He now holds the title for the longest-running national television news anchor in North America, UPI says.

Heck, even Cronkite was anchor for just 19 years.

Robertson, now 77, had been in media his entire life, starting in radio after he graduated high school and joining the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1954.

Robertson’s wife, Nancy, told the Toronto Star that Robertson says he’s looking forward to a “normal” life after retirement, but “I’m not setting myself up for a normal life, because he’d be unhappy if it were.”
