Lolo Jones: Media 'Ripped Me To Shreds'

Lolo Jones — the Olympic athlete who was taken apart in a New York Times piece comparing her to Anna Kournikova — placed fourth in the 100 meter hurdles. Jones told Today that she was disappointed in that, but also teared up when discussing the Times’ article, which some have said was way off base.

“They should be supporting our U.S. Olympic athletes and instead they just ripped me to shreds,” said a tearful Jones. “I just thought that that was crazy because I worked six days a week, every day, for four years for a 12-second race and the fact that they just tore me apart, which is heartbreaking.”

Jones added that the Times also conveniently left out the fact that she is quite accomplished:

They didn’t even do their research, calling me the Anna Kournikova of track.
