Location Based Analytics Platform Lets You Track Your Users' Locations

Location data drives smarter decisions for application developers and in an increasingly mobile world, data isn’t confined to enterprise systems. Data is all around us – stored within devices, stored in the cloud and scattered throughout the web. Tackling this problem are FortiusOne and Appcelerator by announcing the first location based analytics platform for mobile applications. This platform captures, analyzes and illustrates real-time data from mobile devices and social media services, helping application developers easily understand where, when and how their mobile apps are being used.

Termed ‘Titanium + Geo’, this platform helps enterprises, marketers and retailers get real-time data and measure its impact on their company’s bottom line. Appcelerator’s Titanium + Geo uses the core location analytics found in FortiusOne’s GeoIQ platform and enhances its capability for improved capturing, analysis and visualization of real-time data sprouting from mobile devices and social media services. This could be a break-through for companies looking to deliver personalized and locally relevant content that consumers are increasingly coming to expect without guessing.

“Our developers are creating apps that place a premium on knowing where the user is and what they’re doing,” said Jeff Haynie, CEO of Appcelerator. “Now with Titanium+Geo, we’ve lowered the barrier to entry for both developing mobile applications and analyzing the results. Developers can better target offers, cross-sell products and understand the geo-social context of their applications.”

Titanium + Geo’s secret sauce lies in combining internal data (gathered from coupons, customer databases and location) with external data (Twitter, demographic and competitive information) to create actionable data (such as promotion, selling ads, opening new location). For example, imagine you’re walking around San Francisco and you’re trying to purchase an icee drink from a stand but the line is too long. You then open your twitter app and tweet that the line is too long with the appropriate hashtag and location data. Using GeoIQ’s system, the icee drink company could harness this data and instantly know that the current supply is unable to meet the demand. The company could then, in turn, justify opening a new store if many of these complaints are harnessed. Also if you have a choice between 2 icee drinks and you are picking one over the other either by standing closer to it so it signals that you are more likely to purchase from one and/or through any sentiment conveyed on the open web – then that information could be used to better compete.

“This partnership unites two leading technologies from the mobile and analytics markets,” said Frank Moyer, CEO, FortiusOne. “It leverages GeoIQ, used by US intelligence agencies, to create the first enterprise-grade mobile analytics solution. By partnering with Appcelerator, we have solved a problem many enterprises face with mobile technology – understanding where, when and how mobile applications are being used.”

Appcelerator’s Titanium + Geo will be available in Q4 of 2010, starting with Appcelerator’s 72,000 + developer community. Appcelerator’s Titanium platform is hot right now and is a fast way to deploy apps across Android, iPhone and Blackberry with a single set of source code and with cross-platform functionality. The titanium platform makes it easy to capture the location of all mobile events enabling companies to better understand the ROI.
