Doctors at UCLA Perform the First Live-Vined Surgery
The Twitterverse has already seen its first live-tweeted open-heart surgery, and even a live-tweet of a brain surgery.
But a surgical operation had never before been live-Vined – until last Thursday.
Doctors at UCLA Health in Southern California documented a brain surgery on Thursday with Instagram and Vine.
UCLA Health spokeswoman Roxanne Yamaguchi Moster told the L.A. Times that the hospital’s motivation for the ground-breaking social media documentation was to draw attention to brain pacemakers:
“Many in the public don’t know about this treatment so UCLA Health System thought this would be a good way to get the word out.”
@UCLAHealth used the hashtag #UCLAORLive to chronicle the operation.
