LinkedIn Revamps Desktop Publishing Experience, Adds Other New Features

LinkedIn announced the revamping of its new desktop publishing experience, as well as three new features that quietly began rolling out over the past month.

One of the new features is the ability for users of the professional network’s flagship mobile application to save articles for later viewing. LinkedIn said in an email to SocialTimes that this was “a much requested feature” from its users, and it had previously been available only via the LinkedIn Pulse news-reading app.

Much like Facebook’s Save feature, users who come across articles that interest them can tap the “save” icon and save them for later viewing under their “Me” tabs.

LinkedIn’s save articles for later feature is currently available on its iOS app, with Android to be added next week.

LinkedIn has also quietly launched a content search feature, allowing users to enter keywords and search results, along with the ability to discover other posts by tapping hashtags.

The professional network detailed the improvements to its desktop publishing experience in a blog post:

We’ve made it easier to add, move and resize multimedia with in-line images, videos, slides, podcasts and more. You can enrich your articles, and your readers will appreciate exploring your content in a more engaging way. Just click on the “Add Multimedia” icon.

We’ve also updated our tagging and distribution system to help surface your articles on LinkedIn. You can now add hashtags to an article before you publish, making it easier for professionals to easily discover and search for your content in the feed (hashtags are now searchable on mobile and coming to desktop very soon).

The new desktop publishing experience is only available in the U.S. for now, and will be available to international soon after.
