Ladies Who Launch: Introducing b5media’s TheGloss.com

the_gloss_3.8.10.jpgToday, b5media, Inc. launched their newest site, TheGloss.com, an online destination for fashion and beauty. The company views today’s launch as “an important step for b5media as it transitions from a new media network of blogs into a global entertainment lifestyle media company.” b5media launched another blog for women, the celebrity and pop culture-focused Crushable.com, only just last month.

After the jump, The Gloss gets reflective.

The Gloss is overseen by Elizabeth Spiers. Lilit Marcus, formerly of Jewcy.com as well as co-founder and editor of Savetheassistants.com, is the site’s editor-in-chief and Jennifer Wright, who formerly worked as senior editor of askmelissa.com, is deputy editor. In addition, the site will feature columns on a range of issues by such contributors as Nadine Jolie, Megan Carpentier and Brooke Moreland.

The Gloss covers dating, sex, career and culture in addition to beauty and fashion and hopes to appeal to a wide range of women with eclectic tastes and buying habits. b5media CEO Elaine Kunda emphasizes the site’s focus on appealing to a variety of ladypersons:

I am proud to create a site that speaks to the manifold experiences of modern women. Today’s woman does not want to be a type, she wants to be an individual. She deserves a website that lets her explore all of her interests without putting her in a box.

And let it be said that the site is not without humor: Current headlines include “How to Get Botox and Not Look Like Nicole Kidman,” “What to Call Your Period in Other Countries,” and “Oscar Fashion With Drag Queens (and a Dude).” Which are all issues in which I, as a woman of eclectic taste and buying habits of some sort, have either personally grappled with or in which I am currently extremely interested.

Have any of you had a chance to peruse the site? If so, what are your thoughts?
