Kyte Powers Interscope Artist Apps

kyte_lady_gaga_iphone.jpgRecord label Interscope Geffen A&M, part of the Universal Music Group, has teamed with Kyte, a mobile video broadcaster, to launch artist applications on the iPhone.

Interscope will initially launch apps for five artists: The All American Rejects, Keri Hilson, Lady Gaga, The Pussycat Dolls and Soulja Boy Tell ‘Em. The Kyte-based apps enable artists to stream live video, post tour dates, news and other content and sell music and merchandise. End users can make purchases, post comments, share content and chat with friends within the app.

mocoNews reports that the apps are offered for free, and it’s up to the record labels to choose how to make money. Kyte earns its fee from licensing the platform.
