Kornheiser Starting To Look Silly?

Chris Simmons, who’s with Virginia’s Daily News-Record posts an interesting note on Romenesko’s forum:

With guys like Tony Kornheiser in the business, it’s easy to see why many journalists consider Sports the Toy Department. Can you image Bob Woodward accusing a critical book reviewer at the Post of backstabbing him? Or calling the reviewer a “two-bit weasel slug”? Kornheiser obviously expected the Post to kiss his ass. Fortunately, the paper had enough guts to instruct Paul Farhi to produce an honest critique. To do otherwise would have been journalistically derelict. I’ve been a college-town sports editor for more than 20 years, and I’ve told generations of young writers to read the Post every day for a grad-school education in journalism. Happily, the paper lived up to its standards with the Farhi piece. Sadly, I had to do damage control to convince my staff that Kornheiser was dead wrong — even bush league — in demanding non-critical coverage from his employer.

And more:

Kornheiser a little sensitive

Tony Kornheiser, of all people, should know by now: If you can dish it out, you better be able to take it.

New gig too hot for Tony?
