Kodansha to Close its English Language Subsidiary

Kodansha International, an English-language publisher of translated books on Japan and a subsidiary of one of Japan’s largest publishing houses, is going to close by the end of April. Kodansha International President Koji Hirota has confirmed the closure, but has not provided any details.

There’s no word yet on what will happen to the titles currently published by Kodansha International, or to the titles scheduled for the coming months.

This publisher was founded in 1963, and has released a number of English translations of Japanese fiction and nonfiction.
